Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is "educational pricing"?

Educational pricing refers to the substantial discounts (up to 75% off the retail price!) that many major software companies offer to university students. All currently enrolled CSU students, faculty, and staff may purchase a wide variety of popular software packages through the special educational pricing programs at RAMtech

Is educationally priced software the same as the regularly priced version?

Yes! An educationally priced software package contains the exact same version of the program that is included in its retail priced counterpart! There is no difference between the two other than the price!!!

Can I get a discount on computers by being a CSU student?

Yes! You can purchase one of our in-stock laptops or begin shopping by clicking on the vendors on-line store under Personal Sales located on the right hand side of your computer screen. Be sure to start from our website – you will miss out on academic savings if you don't! Currently, you can save money on Apple, Dell, HP, and RunPC computers!

I am an enrolled student and want to purchase from the RAMtech. What do I need to do?

You are required to show your current CSU ID for all purchases. CSU ID allows us to check your current enrollment at CSU.

If an item I'm looking for is not on your price sheet, can I still get it?

We specialize in Academic Software but can order almost anything. Please note that it can take 7-14 days for special order products to arrive. Call us at 970-491-7625 for a price quote.

Can I charge purchases to my student account?

Yes, as long as the purchase is over five dollars and you can provide your current CSU student ID.

Do you sell hardware?

We carry computers (Apple, HP & Dell), cables, adapters, printer supplies, hard drives, network cards, fans, surge protectors, keyboards, mice, etc. In addition, we supply all kinds of media including USB flash drives, CD-R and CD-RW discs, and recordable DVD's.

Do you repair computers and printers?

Yes! We have a computer repair center located on the first floor of Morgan Library. The repair center can repair most desktop and laptop computer problems. Always check with your manufacture first for all warranty issues. RAMtech has teamed up with Apple, Dell and HP to provide you with authorized warranty repairs here on campus.

I am a distance student taking classes through CSU. Can I purchase from the RAMtech?

Yes! Distance students are required to provide proof of enrollment at CSU, usually in the form of your CSU Registration Confirmation. In addition, we need to have your CSU ID number to process the purchase. Payment can be made by either calling in with a Visa/MasterCard number, or by mailing a check. Shipping is by UPS ground and the shipping rate is subject to your location.

I will be a new student at CSU. Should I purchase a desktop or a laptop?

Generally, we suggest purchasing whatever is most convenient for you. Obviously, laptops are more portable, more compact, and can be used anywhere. Additionally, many buildings on campus have wireless networking capabilities that laptops with a wireless network card can take advantage of. Desktops are obviously less mobile, but are usually easier to upgrade and are generally less expensive. CSU maintains a hardware and software standards page for students. To see those recommendations, look at http://www.colostate.edu/acns/uitss/student.html.

I will be living in the dorms this semester. How can I connect to the internet?

All residence halls and apartments have one wired network connection per resident with high-speed Internet access. Service is provided as part of the room & board fee. All residence halls have wireless access in the common areas and dining centers. Wireless access is provided throughout the Academic Village, Durward, Newsom, Summit, and Westfall residence halls.

I am interested in purchasing a new computer. Should I get a Mac or a PC?

If you are purchasing a new computer for use at Colorado State University you will want to check the University standards Computer and Software Recommendations for Students at http://www.colostate.edu/acns/uitss/student.html. These standards are university-wide; however your college may have additional recommendations. You can choose your college from links on the standards page, or check with your adviser for any additional recommendations.

Where are you located?
